               SONGWRITING WORKSHOP
                    (runs at Cranleigh Arts Centre)

Sharon and Eleanore Duggan run a songwriting workshop not to be missed by aspiring songwriters.

This workshop will help you to learn:

· How songs are structured
· How to develop melody and lyrics
· Developing instrumentation, harmony and dynamics
· Performance and Production
· Songwriting mistakes

We will then endeavour to compose a song and produce it.  We will also consider the importance of modern production techniques and the importance of performance, as well as discussing the components of a good song eg. structure, dynamics, hooks, melody, instrumentation, harmony etc.

Please bring along any instruments that you play so that they can be incorporated as necessary into the song that you compose.  We will then perform the song at the end of the workshop.

Length of workshop:
10am - 4.30pm (1 day)

Open to:

Aspiring songwriters

Fee:
£30 for the day.

There's a lot of fun to be had with singing activities.....and as an experienced teacher (as well as a qualified one) Sharon has extensive experience  in:

   preparing children (both as individuals and in groups) for school  productions
  with terrific results!

  preparing teenagers for their GCSE performances

  helping children to get the most of out singing by helping them to understand their voices
  better

   helping to improve confidence in their voice(s)

or just having fun singing in a group.

Please just ring on 01483 279803 or email info@sharonduggan.co.uk to discuss your needs.

Workshops: Sharon can come into school, or even to your child's party and run a one-off singing and/or performance workshop for children.  If you want to book a group of workshops more like a short course, just contact Sharon to discuss.

Individual lessons: while lessons will not include vocal development of the voice for the reasons given below, children have great fun learning:

* to understand how their voice is produced;
* how to prepare songs for performance;
* how to perform songs well;
* how to choose songs that suit their voice;
* how to express themselves well whilst singing.

NB. Sharon has been CRB checked through both Cranleigh Arts Centre and the West Sussex County Council.

Do remember, it is not good practice to give vocal training to children under the age of 14 years, as vocal training involves the development of muscles - so just like you wouldn't send your child to develop their muscles on weight machines in the gym, bear in mind that it's best to wait to develop the muscles they use for singing.

"Sharon's highly professional but friendly approach has been a major contribution to improving our daughter's singing skills to a significantly higher standard and building her overall confidence"
Dr Malcolm and Jennifer Parry, Godalming

Sharon helped our daughter to prepare for her part in her school production.  I didn't hold out much hope to be honest, because my daughter is not what you'd call a natural singer.  When it came to the performances, I was amazed.  Sophie was confident and relaxed and sounded better than I could have thought possible.  I can thoroughly recommend her and the children love her! Workshops and individual work with children
Sharon was fantastic.  She really put herself out helping Nick with his GCSE performance.  He lacked confidence and also didn't really know what songs to choose.  Sharon sorted it all out and he sailed through. Jackie Myers, Wonersh

I've told all my friends about Sharon Duggan.  She's such a talented teacher and she has a way with the children.  We had her over to do a workshop with the children as a birthday surprise and they loved it.
