Sharon already runs a choir herself, as the founder and choral director of the Cranleigh Community Choir, which runs out of Cranleigh Arts Centre. She has also taught many individual students who belong to choirs and as such, is well aware of the types of problems they come into individual lessons with - and how to help them overcome these problems.
What happens on the workshop?
So, if you feel that your choristers would benefit from a half day learning about how to use their voices properly, then this fun, informative workshop is for you (if you have a larger choir, the half day workshop can be repeated, either in the afternoon of the same day or on another date), so that each group is not too big.
Sharon is a qualififed teacher, and she has been teaching singing and performance for ten years. She is classically trained and has been the singing and performance tutor at Cranleigh Arts Centre since 2000; she is also the singing tutor for the West Sussex Adult Education Service. Prior to this, she was the Individual Vocals Tutor at the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Guildford. Alongside her teaching for outside venues and organisations, Sharon runs a popular private teaching practice, teaching individuals. She also runs two choirs: The Cranleigh Community Choir and the new Cranleigh Community Youth Choir, which will commence Autumn 2010.
Sharon also still works as a professional singer.
