Musical Theatre Workshop
What happens on this workshop?
Musical theatre continues to excite and inspire people to sing and is something that a lot of people are able to take part in through amateur dramatic societies. The difference of course about musical theatre singing is that one is singing in character. All performing is about drawing on emotions so that you "sing the emotion of lyrics" but musical theatre is more overt than this.
This workshop is for anybody wanting to have a first go at trying musical theatre or for people already involved who would like some help in improving their skills.
The workshop will include:
an introduction to the voice and how it's produced, along with vocal exercises and some demonstrations of different types of musical theatre songs eg. character songs, ballads, upbeat songs.
You will also be shown how to stand on stage, what works and what doesn't, as well as how to get the most out of radiomics.
The main part of the workshop, however, will be devoted to working on a musical theatre piece as a group. Obviously the piece worked on will rely on how many people are taking part in the workshop.
Come wearing comfortable clothes and shoes!
Open to
